Thereby, an individual workstation for a person with a disability has been established in the library. Here, the visitor will find ergonomic furniture, a large-font keyboard, a special control mouse, a Lithuanian language synthesizer, a screen magnification program, and the JAWS screen reading program.
In the library, you can borrow a foldable wheelchair to move around the premises and reach other floors of the library with a special elevator.
We also provide a home book delivery service for those who cannot come to the library themselves.
We have acquired special equipment for the visually impaired: a Braille printer, a computer with the JAWS screen reading program, and the BRUNO reading device, which voices a scanned text. You will find them in the Main Reading Room and Arts Reading Room.
Employees can help you register for the audio publications library ELVIS—this is a virtual library intended for those who cannot read regular printed text due to illness, poor vision, or blindness. It is also intended for children with learning, developmental, or reading disabilities (dyslexia).
For those with speech, communication, and behavioral disorders or emotional and developmental disabilities, a set of autism-friendly library tools has been prepared. It consists of a social story, a poster with information on rules of conduct, and sensory activity maps of the spaces. The room stand on the 1 st floor has been updated respectively, and the library premises were marked.
In the library, you can use the “Boardmaker” program to create special thematic communication/interaction cards. Such material is required when communicating with children with individual needs.
On our website, a piece of information about library services is provided in easy-to-read language and Lithuanian sign language.
