Scanner

The Regional Digitisation Department of the library provides free scanning service of cultural heritage items (old publications, newspapers, manuscripts, photographs) to public libraries and memory institutions of Panevėžys and Utena municipalities since 2016.

In 2019, nine public libraries and four memory institutions of Panevėžys and Utena municipalities used this service; they scanned 6578 images (from 108 items).

These institutions were invited to assess the quality of the provided scanning service of cultural heritage by responding to a questionnaire. The responses of the libraries in the Lithuanian region of Aukštaitija are pleasing. They are all satisfied with the variety of file formats offered, file transfer methods, scan timings, quality of images. All respondents rated scan timings with the highest score. All 13 institutions that received the questionnaire would recommend this scanning service to other institutions.

This year public libraries of Panevėžys and Utena municipalities are joining the digitisation activities of Lithuanian cultural heritage even more intensively and are providing the Regional Digitisation Department with 12 563 images (from 50 items) to be digitised.
