Lending for in house use

All the users registered at the Library can borrow publications. 

Publications are lent: at the Lending Department (Respublikos str. 14), at the Children and Youth Literature Centre (Aukštaičių str. 4), also at the Loan Service from the Stacks Department, the Foreign Languages Reading Room, the Arts Department (Respublikos str. 14). 

If all the copies of the required publication have been borrowed by other users, it is possible to reserve it using Online Catalogue of the Library or coming to the Library. 

The readers can borrow from the Library 30 publications for the period of 30 days. The loan period of new and greatly demanded publications can be shortened. 

On the reader's request the loan period can be renewed twice, if the publication is not demanded by other users. The renewal can be done when the reader comes to the Library or uses telephone, e-mail, the Online Catalogue on the Library's website, the program Skype (pavb_respublikos_14). 

A fine of 0,05 Litas per day will be charged for each book kept beyond the date which is due to return. Outside the library building is the equipment for returning books, where users can leave books when the Library is closed (24 hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week).

Rare and valuable documents, encyclopedias, dictionaries, books and autographs, serials and periodicals, manuscripts, microcopies, images, maps, audio and video documents, unique copies (excluding fiction), published prior to 1946, are not  lent for in house use. They can be used only in reading rooms of the Library.
